Psalm 52

GW 1 Why do you brag about the evil you've done, you hero? The mercy of God lasts all day long! NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? GW 2 Your tongue makes up threats. It's like a sharp razor, you master of deceit. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. GW 3 ou prefer evil to good. You prefer lying to speaking the truth. Selah NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" GW 4 You love every destructive accusation, you deceitful tongue! NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! GW 5 ut God will ruin you forever. He will grab you and drag you out of your tent. He will pull your roots out of this world of the living. Selah NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" GW 6 Righteous people will see [this] and be struck with fear. They will laugh at you and say, NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, GW 7 "Look at this person who refused to make God his fortress! Instead, he trusted his great wealth and became strong through his greed." NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" GW 8 But I am like a large olive tree in God's house. I trust the mercy of God forever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. GW 9 I will give thanks to you forever for what you have done. In the presence of your godly people, I will wait with hope in your good name. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
