Romans 12

ESV 1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. NIV 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. ESV 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. NIV 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. ESV 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. NIV 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. ESV 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, NIV 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, ESV 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. NIV 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. ESV 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; NIV 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. ESV 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; NIV 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; ESV 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. NIV 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. ESV 9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. NIV 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. ESV 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. NIV 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. ESV 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. NIV 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. ESV 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. NIV 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. ESV 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. NIV 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. ESV 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. NIV 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. ESV 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. NIV 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. ESV 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.Never be wise in your own sight. NIV 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. ESV 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. NIV 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. ESV 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. NIV 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. ESV 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." NIV 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. ESV 20 To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." NIV 20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." ESV 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. NIV 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
