6 I tuoi denti son simili ad una mandra di pecore Che salgono fuor del lavatoio, Le quali hanno tutte due gemelli, E fra esse non ve n’è alcuna senza figlio.

7 La tua tempia, per entro la tua chioma, È simile ad un pezzo di melagrana.

8 Vi son sessanta regine, ed ottanta concubine, E fanciulle senza numero;

9 Ma la colomba mia, la compiuta mia, È unica; ella è unica a sua madre, E singolare a quella che l’ha partorita; Le fanciulle l’hanno veduta, e l’hanno celebrata beata; Le regine altresì, e le concubine, e l’hanno lodata.

10 Chi è costei, che apparisce simile all’alba, Bella come la luna, pura come il sole, Tremenda come campi a bandiere spiegate?

11 Io son discesa al giardino delle noci, Per veder le piante verdeggianti della valle, Per veder se le viti mettevano le lor gemme, E i melagrani le lor bocce.

12 Io non mi sono avveduta che il mio desiderio mi ha renduta simile A’ carri di Amminadab.

13 Ritorna, ritorna, o Sullamita; Ritorna, ritorna, che noi ti miriamo. Perchè mirate la Sullamita Come una danza a due schiere?

INTRODUCTION TO SONG OF SOLOMON 6

The discourse between the church and the daughters of Jerusalem is continued in this chapter: they inquire whither her beloved was gone, in order to seek him with her, So 6:1; she tells them where he was gone, and for what purpose he went thither, and what he was doing there; and claims and asserts her interest in him, So 6:2,3; Then follows a commendation of the church by Christ, who admires her beauty, and describes her by her eyes, hair So 6:4-7; and prefers her to all others; being a singular and choice one to him, and the praise of others, So 6:8-10; and next he gives an account of his going into his garden, and his design in it, and of what happened to him there, So 6:11,12. And the chapter is concluded with a charge to the Shulamite, to turn herself, that she might be looked upon; which occasions a question, to which an answer is returned, So 6:13.
