Submission

Submission
Paul's use of the language of submission and authority…may cause some readers to bristle. Our culture sees submission as a form of oppression. Submission, though, does not imply inferiority, nor is it inconsistent with a relationship of equality. Christ practiced submission to the Father during His earthly ministry (Luke 22:42). According to Hebrews, Jesus "learned obedience from what he suffered" (Heb. 5:8). Yet He was equal with the Father. Those who have been called to practice submission are not asked to stoop any lower than Christ.
