5
Into your hands I commit my spirit;1 redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.26
I hate those who cling to worthless idols;3 I trust in the LORD.47
I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction5 and knew the anguish6 of my soul.
8
You have not handed me over7 to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.89
Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;9 my eyes grow weak with sorrow,10 my soul and my body11 with grief.
10
My life is consumed by anguish12 and my years by groaning;13 my strength fails14 because of my affliction,a15 and my bones grow weak.1611
Because of all my enemies,17 I am the utter contempt18 of my neighbors;19 I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me.
12
I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;20 I have become like broken pottery.
13
For I hear the slander21 of many; there is terror on every side;22 they conspire against me23 and plot to take my life.2414
But I trust25 in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."
15
My times26 are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.
