Genesis 32:27

And he said unto him, what [is] thy name?
&c.] Which question is put, not as being ignorant of it, but in order to take occasion from it, and the change of it, to show that he had granted his request, and had blessed him, and would yet more and more: and he said, Jacob;
the name given him at his birth, and by which he had always been called, and therefore tells it him at once, not staying to ask the reason of the question.

25 Quando este viu que n茫o prevalecia contra ele, tocou-lhe a juntura da coxa, e se deslocou a juntura da coxa de Jac贸, enquanto lutava com ele.
26 Disse o homem: Deixa-me ir, porque j谩 vem rompendo o dia. Jac贸, por茅m, respondeu: N茫o te deixarei ir, se me n茫o aben莽oares.
27 Perguntou-lhe, pois: Qual 茅 o teu nome? E ele respondeu: Jac贸.
28 Ent茫o disse: N茫o te chamar谩s mais Jac贸, mas Israel; porque tens lutado com Deus e com os homens e tens prevalecido.
29 Perguntou-lhe Jac贸: Dize-me, pe莽o-te, o teu nome. Respondeu o homem: Por que perguntas pelo meu nome? E ali o aben莽oou.
