2 Timothy 3:12 says - all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution! So when persecution comes to the believer in Christ it shouldn’t be a surprise. Thus far we’ve seen the first witness, then the first message and first miracle of the early church! Today we’ll recall the churches very first persecution.

We’re in Acts chapter four. In this section of scripture we’re looking at today, Peter has just given a God-inspired evangelistic sermon to a group of people who have observed a miraculous healing of a lame man. 5,000 people ended up giving their hearts to God. One might expect that joy would abound, and everyone would be excited by the news. But that wasn’t the case.

When the apostles John and Peter healed the lame man in Acts chapter 4, it’s a beautiful picture of the healing we can receive in our souls to make us whole. And there’s only one person who can do this. Not Muhammad, not Buddha, not the Ten Commandments, not the Pope, not Marx, not Freud, not yoga, not tolerance, not enlightenment, science, or philosophy. Only Jesus can transform us from the inside out.In this message, Pete Briscoe teaches from Acts 4 about how experiencing the sheer power and love of the indwelling Christ leaves us compelled to tell lost people about the beautiful, saving grace of Jesus.
