10 Ways to Make Church Fun Again

10 Ways to Make Church Fun Again

October 25, 2017

For many unbelievers, fun church may seem like an oxymoron. "Church fun, really?" they wonder.

You may be wondering the same thing, and you've been part of church your entire life.

Church is supposed to be fun. Church is God's idea. It is the manifestation of Christ in the world today -- that's huge. Church is where you find encouragement and community; where you are blessed to be a blessing. And God never intended it to be boring or irrelevant. God's plan for church is a vibrant and exciting gathering.

Church solidifies your identity, and provides pathways toward your calling. It fosters accepting, forgiving relationships with people of all ages.

And it's fun; in fact, I believe the church should be the most enjoyable place on the planet, especially on a Sunday morning.

Yet I know that church is not fun for many people, who tend to view it as a ritual endured for a few hours.

So if church is not fun for you right now (and there are a myriad or reasons why that may be), I've got ten suggestions to help make it fun again.

10 Reasons Making it to Church Will Improve Your Week

10 Reasons Making it to Church Will Improve Your Week

July 12, 2017

It used to be seen as the right thing to do. So you did it. You made the effort. Walked barefoot through rain, hail, sleet, snow, or shine. You dressed in hats and your Sunday best because that was what you did. You went to church. Every week.

But society has changed. Life runs at lightning speed and church is more of an afterthought. It has to be convenient. And frankly, loading up a carload of screaming kids and donning fake smiles is hardly convenient. Who can bother with the trouble of going to church when you can just as easily have a worship experience at home?

But you can't have church at home because church is more than you and a screen.

Church is living breathing people assembled in one place for one purpose - to worship our Savior. Of all people, Jesus didn't need to go to church. He's heard angels worship - what can top that? Yet Jesus made it his custom to attend church.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25 NLT)

Church is more than a good idea or the right thing to do. For too long, society has neglected church. You need to find yourself in church this Sunday, and for many after. Here's a few reasons why.

10 Promises from the Bible to Embrace Today

10 Promises from the Bible to Embrace Today

June 6, 2017

Embrace - to accept a belief willingly and enthusiastically.

The Bible is full of promises. According to Bible Gateway, 5,467 to be exact. And every one of those promises are for believers. All the promises have been fulfilled.

“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ which means ‘Yes’ ascends to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT)

This means all 5,467 are done, complete in Christ. Unfortunately, very few of us believe and access said promises.

Why?

It is easy to blame the devil, yet I believe many promises are left unfulfilled because we are ignorant. We neglect to embrace the promises of God as though our life depends on it.

Jesus said the truth you know will set you free (John 8:32).

The following 10 promises are truths you should know. Of all 5,467 promises, start with these because they will set you free. Embrace them with enthusiasm. Claim them. Memorize them. Hide them in your heart, hold on tight and refuse to let these promises slip through your life. Because as you believe these promises from God's Word, you will be free.

10 Scriptures You Need to Know about Wisdom

10 Scriptures You Need to Know about Wisdom

June 6, 2017

If the Internet has given the world something, it is an abundance of the ridiculous. There is no shortage of grumpy cats, dancing babies, and fake news. Foolishness is glorified.

Yet the world still longs for wisdom. Parenting tips. Marriage advice. Leadership principles. Personal growth. Life hacks. Fancy words describing one thing - wisdom.

The Bible says wisdom is more precious than rubies (Proverbs 8:11) and gold (Proverbs 16:16). So are we willing to pay? Talk is cheap. Wisdom costs. Wisdom is only words if not applied. Words become wisdom when they are internalized and the heart changes. And that is a sacrifice only a few are prepared to make.

If you desire wisdom as the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7), or require wisdom for a specific situation you face, these verses will set your feet on the path of wisdom.
