4 Ways Jabez Can Teach Us to Pray with Boldness

Let’s not be like the first generation of free Israelites, always forgetting what God has given us! Seek God’s presence daily. Thank him for his blessings and mercy. Don’t move forward until you feel that he is with you on your journey. We need him to live as righteous.

We need to pray for God’s protection. It’s pretty obvious to all of us that this world is not safe. There are things lurking all around that can derail our minds, bodies, and souls. Temptation is commonplace. We need God’s strength and protection in order to live this life well.

1 Peter 5:8-9 puts it this way, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

Basically we are in a spiritual battle. There is always more going on around us than what meets the eye. For now, much of the spiritual world is a mystery, so our best line of defense is prayer. We must ask God to cover ourselves, homes, and communities under the shadow of his wing.

The beautiful thing about Jabez’s prayer is that it wasn’t super long or sophisticated, but it was real, heartfelt, and God honored it.

We can come boldly to God asking for his blessing, his enlargement of our influence, his hand on us, and his protection. These desires are all things that he also wants for us. Use Jabez’s words to inspire you to pray big prayers over your life, family, and more!
