16 Y nosotros hemos llegado a conocer y hemos creído el amor que Dios tiene para nosotros. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en amor permanece en Dios y Dios permanece en él.

1 John 4:16

And we have known and believed
Or have a full assurance and knowledge of, and faith in,

the love that God hath to us;
shown as in many instances, so more especially in sending his Son to be the propitiation for our sins, to be the Saviour of us, and that we might live through him.

God is love; (See Gill on 1 John 4:8):

and he that dwelleth in love;
who dwells by faith upon the love of God as displayed in Christ, and abides in the exercise of love to God and to the saints:

dwelleth in God, and God in him; (See Gill on 1 John 4:13); the last clause, "and God in him", is left out in the Syriac version.

14 Y nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio de que el Padre envió al Hijo para ser el Salvador del mundo.

15 Todo aquel que confiesa que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él y él en Dios.

16 Y nosotros hemos llegado a conocer y hemos creído el amor que Dios tiene para nosotros. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en amor permanece en Dios y Dios permanece en él.

17 En esto se perfecciona el amor en nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, pues como El es, así somos también nosotros en este mundo.

18 En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor, porque el temor involucra castigo, y el que teme no es hecho perfecto en el amor.
