28 Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del SEÑOR, los de la guardia los llevaban; después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.

1 Kings 14:28

And it was so, when the king went into the house of the Lord,
&c.] The temple; for though he had fallen into idolatry, he had not wholly forsaken the worship of God in the temple, and perhaps by the late humbling providence he might be stirred up to attend there more frequently:

that the guard bare them:
before him, partly for pomp and grandeur, and partly to keep in awe such as were inclined to mutiny and sedition:

and brought them back into the guard chamber;
when the king returned, the place where the guard lodged and slept by turns.

26 Y tomó los tesoros de la casa del SEÑOR y los tesoros del palacio del rey; se apoderó de todo, llevándose aun todos los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.
27 Entonces el rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce en su lugar, y los entregó al cuidado de los jefes de la guardia que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.
28 Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del SEÑOR, los de la guardia los llevaban; después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.
29 Los demás hechos de Roboam y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
30 Y hubo guerra continua entre Roboam y Jeroboam.
