1 Samuel 31:11

And the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead
Who lived on the other side Jordan, about eight miles from Bethshan, according to Fuller ^F16:

heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;
not only that they had got the victory over him, and routed his army, but had abused his body, and hung it up by way of reproach and ignominy; which they could not bear to hear of, remembering with gratitude the kindness he had shown to them, in delivering them out of the hands of Nahash the Ammonite, ( 1 Samuel 11:1-13 ) .

9 Le cortaron la cabeza y lo despojaron de sus armas, y enviaron mensajeros por toda la tierra de los filisteos, para que llevaran las buenas nuevas a la casa de sus ídolos y al pueblo.

10 Pusieron sus armas en el templo de Astarot, y ataron su cuerpo al muro de Bet-sán.

11 Cuando oyeron los habitantes de Jabes de Galaad lo que los filisteos habían hecho a Saúl,

12 se levantaron todos los hombres valientes, y caminando toda la noche, tomaron el cuerpo de Saúl y los cuerpos de sus hijos del muro de Bet-sán, y volviendo a Jabes, los quemaron allí.

13 Y tomando sus huesos, los enterraron debajo del tamarisco en Jabes, y ayunaron siete días.
