8 Y tomad el arca del SEÑOR y colocadla en el carro; y poned en una caja a su lado los objetos de oro que le entregaréis como ofrenda por la culpa. Luego, dejadla ir, y que se vaya.

1 Samuel 6:8

And take the ark of the Lord, and lay it upon the cart
Which was dispensed with in these uncircumcised Philistines, there being no other to do this service:

and put the jewels of gold;
or rather "vessels of gold" ^F16; the five golden emerods, and the five golden mice:

which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side
thereof;
in a basket, as the Syriac version: in a scrip, as the Arabic; in a purse, or bag, as Josephus ^F17; which latter is probable enough:

and send it away, that it may go;
that is, set it a going, without any driver or guide; but leave it to take its course of itself to the land of Israel. Josephus ^F18 says it was set in a place where three ways met, that it might take which it might; and the taking of the right way must be a strong evidence of its being under the direction of God.

6 ¿Por qué entonces endurecéis vuestros corazones, como endurecieron sus corazones los egipcios y Faraón? Cuando El los trató severamente, ¿no dejaron ir al pueblo, y se fueron?

7 Ahora pues, tomad y preparad un carro nuevo y dos vacas con crías sobre las cuales no se haya puesto yugo; uncid las vacas al carro y llevad sus becerros a casa, lejos de ellas.

8 Y tomad el arca del SEÑOR y colocadla en el carro; y poned en una caja a su lado los objetos de oro que le entregaréis como ofrenda por la culpa. Luego, dejadla ir, y que se vaya.

9 Y observad: si sube por el camino de su territorio a Bet-semes, entonces El nos ha hecho este gran mal. Pero si no, entonces sabremos que no fue su mano la que nos hirió; nos sucedió por casualidad.

10 Entonces los hombres lo hicieron así; tomaron dos vacas con crías, las uncieron al carro y encerraron sus becerros en casa.
