The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley
of Rephaim.
] Or "of the giants", as ( Joshua 15:8 ) ; which lay to the west of Jerusalem; of which, (See Gill on Joshua 15:8); the Philistines spreading themselves in it, shows that they were very numerous.

17 Al oír los filisteos que David había sido ungido rey sobre Israel, todos los filisteos subieron a buscar a David; y cuando David se enteró, bajó a la fortaleza;
18 y los filisteos llegaron y se esparcieron por el valle de Refaim.
19 David consultó al SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Subiré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y el SEÑOR dijo a David: Sube, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tu mano.
20 David fue a Baal-perazim, y allí los derrotó; y dijo: El SEÑOR ha abierto brecha entre mis enemigos delante de mí, como brecha de aguas. Por eso llamó a aquel lugar Baal-perazim .
