Esdras 5:11

11 Y así nos respondieron, diciendo: "Somos los siervos del Dios del cielo y de la tierra, y estamos reedificando el templo que fue construido hace muchos años, el cual un gran rey de Israel edificó y terminó.

Ezra 5:11

And thus they returned us answer
To the purpose and in the manner following:

saying, we are the servants of the God of heaven and earth;
signifying that they were doing his work, in obedience to his will, and to whom they were accountable:

and build the house that was builded these many years ago;
even five hundred years ago, or thereabout; so that they were not erecting a building where there was none before, but were rebuilding what was in ruins:

which a great king of Israel builded and set up;
King Solomon, who was a great king for wisdom, honour, riches, peace, prosperity, and extent of his kingdom.

9 Entonces preguntamos a aquellos ancianos, y les dijimos así: "¿Quién os dio orden de reedificar este templo y de terminar este edificio?"

10 También les preguntamos sus nombres para informarte, y para dar por escrito los nombres de los hombres que eran sus jefes.

11 Y así nos respondieron, diciendo: "Somos los siervos del Dios del cielo y de la tierra, y estamos reedificando el templo que fue construido hace muchos años, el cual un gran rey de Israel edificó y terminó.

12 Pero como nuestros padres provocaron a ira al Dios del cielo, El los entregó en mano de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, el caldeo, quien destruyó este templo, y deportó al pueblo a Babilonia.

13 Sin embargo, en el año primero de Ciro, rey de Babilonia, el rey Ciro proclamó un decreto de que se reedificara esta casa de Dios.
