Éxodo 9:17 Meaning and Commentary

Exodus 9:17

As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt
not let them go?
] And so against God himself, disobeying his commands, despising his messengers, and slighting his miracles, and hardening his heart against him, and refusing to let Israel go, after all; thereby showing the most intolerable pride and insolence not only against the Lord's poor people, but against himself, for what is done to them he takes as done to himself; or "dost thou still tread upon my people?"

Éxodo 9:17 In-Context

15 'Porque si yo hubiera extendido mi mano y te hubiera herido a ti y a tu pueblo con pestilencia, ya habrías sido cortado de la tierra.
16 'Pero en verdad, por esta razón te he permitido permanecer: para mostrarte mi poder y para proclamar mi nombre por toda la tierra.
17 'Y todavía te enalteces contra mi pueblo no dejándolos ir.
18 'He aquí, mañana como a esta hora, enviaré granizo muy pesado, tal como no ha habido en Egipto desde el día en que fue fundado hasta ahora.
19 'Ahora pues, manda poner a salvo tus ganados y todo lo que tienes en el campo, porque todo hombre o todo animal que se encuentre en el campo, y no sea traído a la casa, morirá cuando caiga sobre ellos el granizo.'"
