Jeremiah 52:6

And in the fourth month, in the ninth [day] of the month
The month Tammuz ^F15, which answers to part of June and part of July; hence the fast of the fourth month, for the taking of the city, ( Zechariah 8:19 ) ; the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the
people of the land;
for the common people; though there might be some in the king's palace, and in the houses of princes and noblemen, and officers of the army; yet none for the soldiers, and the meaner sort of people; who therefore were disheartened and enfeebled, that they could not defend the city, or hold out any longer: the famine had been before this time, but was now increased to a prodigious degree, so that the people had no bread to eat; see ( Jeremiah 38:9 ) .

4 Y aconteció que en el año noveno de su reinado, en el mes décimo, a los diez días del mes, vino Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, él y todo su ejército, contra Jerusalén y acamparon contra ella, y edificaron un muro de asedio alrededor de ella.

5 Y la ciudad estuvo bajo sitio hasta el año once del rey Sedequías.

6 En el mes cuarto, a los nueve días del mes, cuando se agravó el hambre en la ciudad y no había alimento para el pueblo,

7 se abrió brecha en la ciudad, y todos los hombres de guerra huyeron y salieron de la ciudad de noche por el camino de la puerta entre los dos muros que había junto al jardín del rey, a pesar de que los caldeos estaban alrededor de la ciudad, y se fueron por el camino del Arabá.

8 Pero el ejército de los caldeos persiguió al rey y alcanzó a Sedequías en los llanos de Jericó, y todo su ejército se dispersó de su lado.
