30 Y cuando Zebul, gobernante de la ciudad, oyó las palabras de Gaal, hijo de Ebed, se encendió en ira.

Judges 9:30

And when Zebul the ruler of the city
Whom Abimelech had placed there under him: heard

the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled;
because he spoke slightly of him, and wished to have his place; perhaps before Zebul was inclined to be on the side of the Shechemites against Abimelech, or at least dissembled that he was; but now, being incensed at the words of Gaal, determined to take the side of Abimelech, and let him know how things were carrying on against him.

28 Entonces Gaal, hijo de Ebed, dijo: ¿Quién es Abimelec y quién es Siquem para que le sirvamos? ¿No es acaso hijo de Jerobaal, y no es Zebul su oficial? Servid a los hombres de Hamor, padre de Siquem; pero ¿por qué hemos de servirle a él?

29 ¡Quién pusiera este pueblo en mis manos! Entonces yo quitaría a Abimelec. Diría a Abimelec: Aumenta tu ejército, y sal.

30 Y cuando Zebul, gobernante de la ciudad, oyó las palabras de Gaal, hijo de Ebed, se encendió en ira.

31 Y envió encubiertamente mensajeros a Abimelec, diciendo: He aquí que Gaal, hijo de Ebed, y sus parientes han venido a Siquem, y he aquí que están incitando a la ciudad contra ti.

32 Ahora pues, levántate de noche, tú y el pueblo que está contigo, y pon emboscada en el campo.
