For John had said unto Herod
He had been personally with him, and had plainly and freely told him of his sin, and faithfully reproved him for it; alleging what he had done was contrary to the law of God:

it is not lawful, for thee to have thy brother's wife:

16 Y al oír esto Herodes, decía: Juan, a quien yo decapité, ha resucitado.
17 Porque Herodes mismo había enviado a prender a Juan y lo había encadenado en la cárcel por causa de Herodías, mujer de su hermano Felipe, pues Herodes se había casado con ella.
18 Porque Juan le decĂ­a a Herodes: No te es lĂ­cito tener la mujer de tu hermano.
19 Y HerodĂ­as le tenĂ­a rencor y deseaba matarlo, pero no podĂ­a,
20 porque Herodes temĂ­a a Juan, sabiendo que era un hombre justo y santo, y lo mantenĂ­a protegido. Y cuando le oĂ­a se quedaba muy perplejo, pero le gustaba escucharlo.
