2 Pues la mujer casada está ligada por la ley a su marido mientras él vive; pero si su marido muere, queda libre de la ley en cuanto al marido.

Romans 7:2

For the woman which hath an husband
The former general rule is here illustrated by a particular instance and example in the law of marriage; a woman that is married to a man,

is bound by the law to her husband;
to live with him, in subjection and obedience to him,

so long as he liveth;
except in the cases of adultery, ( Matthew 19:9 ) , and desertion, ( 1 Corinthians 7:15 ) , by which the bond of marriage is loosed, and for which a divorce or separation may be made, which are equal to death:

but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her
husband;
the bond of marriage is dissolved, the law of it is abolished, and she is at entire liberty to marry whom she will, ( 1 Corinthians 7:39 ) .

1 ¿Acaso ignoráis, hermanos (pues hablo a los que conocen la ley), que la ley tiene jurisdicción sobre una persona mientras vive?

2 Pues la mujer casada está ligada por la ley a su marido mientras él vive; pero si su marido muere, queda libre de la ley en cuanto al marido.

3 Así que, mientras vive su marido, será llamada adúltera si ella se une a otro hombre; pero si su marido muere, está libre de la ley, de modo que no es adúltera aunque se una a otro hombre.

4 Por tanto, hermanos míos, también a vosotros se os hizo morir a la ley por medio del cuerpo de Cristo, para que seáis unidos a otro, a aquel que resucitó de entre los muertos, a fin de que llevemos fruto para Dios.

5 Porque mientras estábamos en la carne, las pasiones pecaminosas despertadas por la ley, actuaban en los miembros de nuestro cuerpo a fin de llevar fruto para muerte.
