Job 16:14

Listen to Job 16:14

Job 16:14 Meaning and Commentary

Job 16:14

He breaketh me with breach upon breach
Upon his substance, his family, and the health of his body, which came thick and fast, one after another; referring to the report of those things brought by one messenger upon the back of another, see ( Ezekiel 7:26 ) ;

he runneth upon me like a giant;
with great fury and fierceness, with great strength and courage, with great speed and swiftness, causing great terror and distress; he not being able to resist him, any more than a dwarf a giant, and no more, nor so much, a match for him; see ( Isaiah 42:13 ) .

Job 16:14 In-Context

12 I was at rest, but he shattered me, seized me by the back of my neck, dashed me into pieces; he raised me up for his target.
13 His archers surround me; he cuts my kidneys open without pity and doesn't care, pours my gall on the ground,
14 bursts me open over and over, runs against me like a strong man.
15 I've sewed rough cloth over my skin and buried my dignity in the dust.
16 My face is red from crying, and dark gloom hangs on my eyelids.
