Listen to Psalm 116:4

Psalm 116:4 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 116:4

Then called I upon the name of the Lord
Upon the Lord himself in prayer for speedy deliverance; or "in the name of the Lord" {h}, in the name of the Messiah, the only Mediator between God and man; "saying", as follows, and which word may be supplied,

O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul;
from these sorrows and pains, from these afflictions and distresses, from death and the grave, and from wrath, and a sense of it, and fears about it.

Psalm 116:4 In-Context

2 I'll call out to him as long as I live, because he listens closely to me.
3 Death's ropes bound me; the distress of the grave found me— I came face-to-face with trouble and grief.
4 So I called on the LORD's name: "LORD, please save me!"
5 The LORD is merciful and righteous; our God is compassionate.
6 The LORD protects simple folk; he saves me whenever I am brought down.
