Ephesians 4:27

Listen to Ephesians 4:27

Ephesians 4:27 Meaning and Commentary

Ephesians 4:27

Neither give place to the devil.
] Or "to the accuser", or "slanderer"; that is, to any adversary, that takes delight in slandering and reproaching the saints; give such no room, nor reason, to calumniate the doctrine and ways of Christ, through an unbecoming conversation, by lying and sinful anger, or by other means; or rather the devil, the great accuser of the brethren is meant; and the Ethiopic version renders it, "do not give way to Satan"; which is done, when men indulge any lust or corruption; and when they easily fall in with his suggestions and temptations; when they are off of their watch and guard; and when they do not resist, but quietly yield unto him.

The Sifter, 1
Tim Kelley

The devil communicates his values to the Christian through the world system. It is a very subtle invasion of the Christian's life that affects most believers. He speaks lies that are custom-made for each believer. Simply stated - the devil hates God so he hates you. He wants to ruin your life and will destroy you if he can. I wage war on satan and his lies by hiding the Word of God in my heart to counteract those lies and the work of the devil. God's Word does a wonderful job of destroying the old and rebuilding the new.

Ephesians 4:27 In-Context

25 Therefore, stripping off falsehood, let everyone speak truth with his neighbor, because we are intimately related to each other as parts of a body.
26 Be angry, but don't sine - don't let the sun go down before you have dealt with the cause of your anger;
27 otherwise you leave room for the Adversary.
28 The thief must stop stealing; instead, he should make an honest living by his own efforts. This way he will be able to share with those in need.
29 Let no harmful language come from your mouth, only good words that are helpful in meeting the need, words that will benefit those who hear them.
