35:22-26 Reuben, Jacob’s oldest son, foolishly attempted to assert his right over his father’s estate by sleeping with Jacob’s concubine Bilhah, the mother of two of his brothers. By doing so, he forfeited his blessing as the oldest son (49:3-4).
