Genesis 44:30

Now therefore, when I come to thy servant my father
That is, should he return to him in the land of Canaan with the rest of his brethren: and the lad [be] not with us;
his brother Benjamin, so called here, and in the following verses, though thirty years of age and upwards, see ( Genesis 43:8 ) ; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;
he is as closely united to him in affection, and is as dear to him as his own soul; quite wrapped up in him, and cannot live without him; should he die, he must die too; see ( 1 Samuel 18:1 ) ; so it follows:

28 一 個 離 開 我 出 去 了 ； 我 說 他 必 是 被 撕 碎 了 ， 直 到 如 今 我 也 沒 有 見 他 。

29 現 在 你 們 又 要 把 這 個 帶 去 離 開 我 ， 倘 若 他 遭 害 ， 那 便 是 你 們 使 我 白 髮 蒼 蒼 、 悲 悲 慘 慘 地 下 陰 間 去 了 。

30 我 父 親 的 命 與 這 童 子 的 命 相 連 。 如 今 我 回 到 你 僕 人 ─ 我 父 親 那 裡 ， 若 沒 有 童 子 與 我 們 同 在 ，

31 我 們 的 父 親 見 沒 有 童 子 ， 他 就 必 死 。 這 便 是 我 們 使 你 僕 人 ─ 我 們 的 父 親 白 髮 蒼 蒼 、 悲 悲 慘 慘 地 下 陰 間 去 了 。

32 因 為 僕 人 曾 向 我 父 親 為 這 童 子 作 保 ， 說 ： 我 若 不 帶 他 回 來 交 給 父 親 ， 我 便 在 父 親 面 前 永 遠 擔 罪 。
