38 於 是 ， 耶 和 華 降 下 火 來 ， 燒 盡 燔 祭 、 木 柴 、 石 頭 、 塵 土 ， 又 燒 乾 溝 裡 的 水 。

1 Kings 18:38

Then the fire of the Lord fell
An extraordinary fire from God out of heaven, as the effects of it show:

and consumed the burnt sacrifice;
as it had done in former instances, ( Leviticus 9:24 ) ( Judges 6:21 ) ( 1 Chronicles 21:26 ) ( 2 Chronicles 7:1 2 Chronicles 7:3 ) , and besides this, which is still more extraordinary,

and the wood, and the stones, and the dust;
of the altar, thereby signifying that even such were not to be used any more:

and licked up the water that was in the trench;
around the altar, see ( 1 Kings 18:32 ) .

36 到 了 獻 晚 祭 的 時 候 ， 先 知 以 利 亞 近 前 來 ， 說 ： 亞 伯 拉 罕 、 以 撒 、 以 色 列 的 　 神 ， 耶 和 華 啊 ， 求 你 今 日 使 人 知 道 你 是 以 色 列 的 　 神 ， 也 知 道 我 是 你 的 僕 人 ， 又 是 奉 你 的 命 行 這 一 切 事 。

37 耶 和 華 啊 ， 求 你 應 允 我 ， 應 允 我 ！ 使 這 民 知 道 你 ─ 耶 和 華 是 　 神 ， 又 知 道 是 你 叫 這 民 的 心 回 轉 。

38 於 是 ， 耶 和 華 降 下 火 來 ， 燒 盡 燔 祭 、 木 柴 、 石 頭 、 塵 土 ， 又 燒 乾 溝 裡 的 水 。

39 眾 民 看 見 了 ， 就 俯 伏 在 地 ， 說 ： 耶 和 華 是 　 神 ！ 耶 和 華 是 　 神 ！

40 以 利 亞 對 他 們 說 ： 拿 住 巴 力 的 先 知 ， 不 容 一 人 逃 脫 ！ 眾 人 就 拿 住 他 們 。 以 利 亞 帶 他 們 到 基 順 河 邊 ， 在 那 裡 殺 了 他 們 。
