Judges 9:10

And the trees said to the fig tree
Another useful and fruit bearing tree, and to which also good men are sometimes compared, see ( Song of Solomon 2:13 ) ,

come thou, and reign over us:
which Jarchi applies to Deborah, but may be better applied to one of Gideon's sons, who, though they had not a personal offer of kingly government themselves, yet it was made to them through their father, and refused, as for himself, so for them; and had it been offered to them, they would have rejected it, as Jotham seems to intimate by this parable.

8 有 一 時 樹 木 要 膏 一 樹 為 王 ， 管 理 他 們 ， 就 去 對 橄 欖 樹 說 ： 請 你 作 我 們 的 王 。

9 橄 欖 樹 回 答 說 ： 我 豈 肯 止 住 供 奉 　 神 和 尊 重 人 的 油 ， 飄 颻 在 眾 樹 之 上 呢 ？

10 樹 木 對 無 花 果 樹 說 ： 請 你 來 作 我 們 的 王 。

11 無 花 果 樹 回 答 說 ： 我 豈 肯 止 住 所 結 甜 美 的 果 子 ， 飄 颻 在 眾 樹 之 上 呢 ？

12 樹 木 對 葡 萄 樹 說 ： 請 你 來 作 我 們 的 王 。
