8 許 多 國 的 民 要 經 過 這 城 ， 各 人 對 鄰 舍 說 ： 耶 和 華 為 何 向 這 大 城 如 此 行 呢 ？

Jeremiah 22:8

And many nations shall pass by this city
After it is burned down and destroyed; that is, people out of many nations travelling that way: and they shall say every man to his neighbour;
as in company together, passing along the ruined walls of the city: wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this great city?
so fortified and so full of people; the metropolis of the whole nation; the greatest city in the east; yea, the joy of the whole earth; a city peculiarly dear to the Lord; greatly honoured by him with his presence, worship, and ordinances, and yet now in ruins; how comes this to pass? they see and acknowledge the hand of the Lord in it, having a better notion of things than the Jews themselves had.

6 耶 和 華 論 到 猶 大 王 的 家 如 此 說 ： 我 看 你 如 基 列 ， 如 利 巴 嫩 頂 ； 然 而 ， 我 必 使 你 變 為 曠 野 ， 為 無 人 居 住 的 城 邑 。

7 我 要 預 備 行 毀 滅 的 人 ， 各 拿 器 械 攻 擊 你 ； 他 們 要 砍 下 你 佳 美 的 香 柏 樹 ， 扔 在 火 中 。

8 許 多 國 的 民 要 經 過 這 城 ， 各 人 對 鄰 舍 說 ： 耶 和 華 為 何 向 這 大 城 如 此 行 呢 ？

9 他 們 必 回 答 說 ： 是 因 離 棄 了 耶 和 華 ─ 他 們 　 神 的 約 ， 事 奉 敬 拜 別 　 神 。

10 不 要 為 死 人 哭 號 ； 不 要 為 他 悲 傷 ， 卻 要 為 離 家 出 外 的 人 大 大 哭 號 ； 因 為 他 不 得 再 回 來 ， 也 不 得 再 見 他 的 本 國 。
