6 耶 利 米 就 到 米 斯 巴 見 亞 希 甘 的 兒 子 基 大 利 ， 在 他 那 裡 住 在 境 內 剩 下 的 民 中 。

Jeremiah 40:6

Then went Jeremiah to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah,
&c.] A city in the tribe of Benjamin, not far from Ramathon; which, as Josephus says, was about five miles from Jerusalem. Jeremiah took the captain's advice, though it might have been better with him had he gone along with him to Babylon; but he chose rather to dwell in his own land, and suffer affliction with the people of God, than to dwell at ease in a foreign and idolatrous land: and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land;
among the poor people that Nebuzaradan left, who dwelt either at Mizpah or at Anathoth, and lived as they did.

4 現 在 我 解 開 你 手 上 的 鍊 子 ， 你 若 看 與 我 同 往 巴 比 倫 去 好 ， 就 可 以 去 ， 我 必 厚 待 你 ； 你 若 看 與 我 同 往 巴 比 倫 去 不 好 ， 就 不 必 去 。 看 哪 ， 全 地 在 你 面 前 ， 你 以 為 哪 裡 美 好 ， 哪 裡 合 宜 ， 只 管 上 那 裡 去 罷 ！

5 耶 利 米 還 沒 有 回 去 ， 護 衛 長 說 ： 你 可 以 回 到 沙 番 的 孫 子 亞 希 甘 的 兒 子 基 大 利 那 裡 去 ； 現 在 巴 比 倫 王 立 他 作 猶 大 城 邑 的 省 長 。 你 可 以 在 他 那 裡 住 在 民 中 ， 不 然 ， 你 看 哪 裡 合 宜 就 可 以 上 那 裡 去 。 於 是 護 衛 長 送 他 糧 食 和 禮 物 ， 釋 放 他 去 了 。

7 在 田 野 的 一 切 軍 長 和 屬 他 們 的 人 聽 見 巴 比 倫 王 立 了 亞 希 甘 的 兒 子 基 大 利 作 境 內 的 省 長 ， 並 將 沒 有 擄 到 巴 比 倫 的 男 人 、 婦 女 、 孩 童 ， 和 境 內 極 窮 的 人 全 交 給 他 。

8 於 是 軍 長 尼 探 雅 的 兒 子 以 實 瑪 利 ， 加 利 亞 的 兩 個 兒 子 約 哈 難 和 約 拿 單 ， 單 戶 篾 的 兒 子 西 萊 雅 ， 並 尼 陀 法 人 以 斐 的 眾 子 ， 瑪 迦 人 的 兒 子 耶 撒 尼 亞 和 屬 他 們 的 人 ， 都 到 米 斯 巴 見 基 大 利 。
