Jeremiah 51:54

A sound of a cry [cometh] from Babylon
Of the inhabitants of it upon its being taken; which is said to denote the certainty of it, which was as sure as if the cry of the distressed was then heard: and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans;
that is, the report of a great destruction there, was, or would be, carried from thence, and spread all over the world.

52 耶 和 華 說 ： 日 子 將 到 ， 我 必 刑 罰 巴 比 倫 雕 刻 的 偶 像 ， 通 國 受 傷 的 人 必 唉 哼 。

53 巴 比 倫 雖 升 到 天 上 ， 雖 使 他 堅 固 的 高 處 更 堅 固 ， 還 有 行 毀 滅 的 從 我 這 裡 到 他 那 裡 。 這 是 耶 和 華 說 的 。

54 有 哀 號 的 聲 音 從 巴 比 倫 出 來 ； 有 大 毀 滅 的 響 聲 從 迦 勒 底 人 之 地 發 出 。

55 因 耶 和 華 使 巴 比 倫 變 為 荒 場 ， 使 其 中 的 大 聲 滅 絕 。 仇 敵 彷 彿 眾 水 ， 波 浪 匉 訇 ， 響 聲 已 經 發 出 。

56 這 是 行 毀 滅 的 臨 到 巴 比 倫 。 巴 比 倫 的 勇 士 被 捉 住 ， 他 們 的 弓 折 斷 了 ； 因 為 耶 和 華 是 施 行 報 應 的 神 ， 必 定 施 行 報 應 。
