13 只 是 百 姓 眾 多 ， 又 逢 大 雨 的 時 令 ， 我 們 不 能 站 在 外 頭 ， 這 也 不 是 一 兩 天 辦 完 的 事 ， 因 我 們 在 這 事 上 犯 了 大 罪 ；

Ezra 10:13

But the people are many
Who have been guilty of this evil:

and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without:
in the street, because of the rain:

neither is this a work of one day or two;
to inquire into this affair, who they are that have taken strange wives, and to persuade or oblige them to put them away:

for we are many that have transgressed in this thing;
in marrying strange wives.

11 現 在 當 向 耶 和 華 ─ 你 們 列 祖 的 　 神 認 罪 ， 遵 行 他 的 旨 意 ， 離 絕 這 些 國 的 民 和 外 邦 的 女 子 。 」

12 會 眾 都 大 聲 回 答 說 ： 我 們 必 照 著 你 的 話 行 ，

13 只 是 百 姓 眾 多 ， 又 逢 大 雨 的 時 令 ， 我 們 不 能 站 在 外 頭 ， 這 也 不 是 一 兩 天 辦 完 的 事 ， 因 我 們 在 這 事 上 犯 了 大 罪 ；

14 不 如 為 全 會 眾 派 首 領 辦 理 。 凡 我 們 城 邑 中 娶 外 邦 女 子 為 妻 的 ， 當 按 所 定 的 日 期 ， 同 著 本 城 的 長 老 和 士 師 而 來 ， 直 到 辦 完 這 事 ， 　 神 的 烈 怒 就 轉 離 我 們 了 。 」

15 惟 有 亞 撒 黑 的 兒 子 約 拿 單 ， 特 瓦 的 兒 子 雅 哈 謝 阻 擋 （ 或 譯 ： 總 辦 ） 這 事 ， 並 有 米 書 蘭 和 利 未 人 沙 比 太 幫 助 他 們 。
