In four quarters were the porters
For, according to the Targum on ( 1 Chronicles 9:22 ) there were twenty four wards:

towards the east, west, north, and south;
and, as the same paraphrase has it, six wards to the east, six to the west, six to the north, and six to the south.

22 Beì xuǎn shǒu mén de rén gòng yǒu èr bǎi yī shí èr míng . tāmen zaì zìjǐ de cūnzhuāng , àn zhe jiāpǔ jìsuàn , shì Dàwèi hé xiān jiàn Sǎmǔĕr suǒ paì dāng zhè jǐnyào zhírèn de .

23 Tāmen hé tāmende zǐsūn àn zhe bāncì kānshǒu Yēhéhuá diàn de mén , jiù shì huì mù de mén .

24 Zaì dōngxǐ nánbĕi , sìfāng dōu yǒu shǒu mén de .

25 Tāmende zú dìxiōng zhù zaì cūnzhuāng , mĕi qī rì lái yǔ tāmen huàn bān .

26 Zhè sì gè mén lǐng dōu shì Lìwèi rén , gè yǒu jǐnyào de zhírèn , kānshǒu shén diàn de cāng kù .
