Luke 23:52

This man went unto Pilate,
&C.] Mark says, he went "boldly" to him; (See Gill on Mark 15:43).

and begged the body of Jesus;
knowing he was dead; that he might bury it, as the Ethiopic version adds, and prevent its being inferred with the two malefactors, or abused by the mob.

53 就 取 下 来 ， 用 细 麻 布 裹 好 ， 安 放 在 石 头 凿 成 的 坟 墓 里 ； 那 里 头 从 来 没 有 葬 过 人 。

54 那 日 是 预 备 日 ， 安 息 日 也 快 到 了 。
