15 你 必 要 用 刀 杀 那 城 里 的 居 民 ， 把 城 里 所 有 的 ， 连 牲 畜 ， 都 用 刀 杀 尽 。

Deuteronomy 13:15

Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the
edge of the sword
This could not be the work of a single person, nor of the whole sanhedrim, but was what the whole nation was to join in, according to the above note:

destroying it utterly;
pulling down the houses, and demolishing its walls and fortifications, or burning it, as afterwards explained:

and all that is therein;
men, women, and children:

and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword;
this severity was used to show the Lord's indignation against the sin of idolatry, and to deter persons from it, both individuals and bodies of men.

14 你 就 要 探 听 ， 查 究 ， 细 细 地 访 问 ， 果 然 是 真 ， 准 有 这 可 憎 恶 的 事 行 在 你 们 中 间 ，

15 你 必 要 用 刀 杀 那 城 里 的 居 民 ， 把 城 里 所 有 的 ， 连 牲 畜 ， 都 用 刀 杀 尽 。

16 你 从 那 城 里 所 夺 的 财 物 都 要 堆 积 在 街 市 上 ， 用 火 将 城 和 其 内 所 夺 的 财 物 都 在 耶 和 华 ─ 你 　 神 面 前 烧 尽 ； 那 城 就 永 为 荒 堆 ， 不 可 再 建 造 。

17 那 当 毁 灭 的 物 连 一 点 都 不 可 粘 你 的 手 。 你 要 听 从 耶 和 华 ─ 你 　 神 的 话 ， 遵 守 我 今 日 所 吩 咐 你 的 一 切 诫 命 ， 行 耶 和 华 ─ 你 　 神 眼 中 看 为 正 的 事 ， 耶 和 华 就 必 转 意 ， 不 发 烈 怒 ， 恩 待 你 ， 怜 恤 你 ， 照 他 向 你 列 祖 所 起 的 誓 使 你 人 数 增 多 。
