2 Chronik 1:1-10

1 Und Salomo, der Sohn Davids, erstarkte in seinem Königreich; und Jehova, sein Gott, war mit ihm und machte ihn überaus groß.

2 Und Salomo redete zu ganz Israel, zu den Obersten über tausend und über hundert, und zu den Richtern und zu allen Fürsten von ganz Israel, den Häuptern der Väter;

3 und sie gingen, Salomo und die ganze Versammlung mit ihm, nach der Höhe, die zu Gibeon war; denn dort war das Zelt der Zusammenkunft Gottes, welches Mose, der Knecht Jehovas, in der Wüste gemacht hatte.

4 Jedoch die Lade Gottes hatte David von Kirjath-Jearim heraufgebracht an den Ort, welchen David für sie bereitet hatte; denn er hatte ihr zu Jerusalem ein Zelt aufgeschlagen.

5 Und der eherne Altar, den Bezaleel, der Sohn Uris, des Sohnes Hurs, gemacht hatte, war daselbst vor der Wohnung Jehovas; und Salomo und die Versammlung besuchten ihn.

6 Und Salomo opferte daselbst vor Jehova auf dem ehernen Altar, der bei dem Zelte der Zusammenkunft war; und er opferte auf demselben tausend Brandopfer.

7 In selbiger Nacht erschien Gott dem Salomo und sprach zu ihm: Bitte, was ich dir geben soll.

8 Und Salomo sprach zu Gott: Du hast ja an David, meinem Vater, große Güte erwiesen, und du hast mich zum König gemacht an seiner Statt:

9 nun möge sich, Jehova Gott, dein Wort bewähren, das du zu meinem Vater David geredet hast! Denn du hast mich zum König gemacht über ein Volk, das zahlreich ist wie der Staub der Erde.

10 Gib mir nun Weisheit und Erkenntnis daß ich vor diesem Volke aus-und eingehen möge; denn wer könnte dieses dein großes Volk richten? -

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND CHRONICLES

This, and the preceding, were but one book originally, but divided into two because of the size of it, so that this is only a continuation of the former history; that ends at the death of David; this begins with the reign of Solomon, goes through that, and the reigns of all the kings of the house of David; of the kings of Judah only, after the separation of the ten tribes, quite down to the captivity of Judah in Babylon, and reaches to the deliverance of the Jews from thence by Cyrus, and contains an history of four hundred and seventy nine years. It treats not at all of the kings of Israel, after the separation, only of the kings of Judah, through whom the line of the Messiah was drawn; and though it omits several things recorded of them in the book of Kings, yet it gives abundance of anecdotes not to be met with there, which are of great use and advantage in history to know.

This chapter relates, how that Solomon being confirmed in his kingdom, went to Gibeon to sacrifice 2Ch 1:1-6, that the Lord appeared there to him, and what passed between them, 2Ch 1:7-10 and that when he returned from thence to Jerusalem, he increased in splendour, wealth, and riches, 2Ch 1:13-17.
