2 Samuel 17:12

So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be
found
For such a numerous army, which would be spread abroad, could not well fail of finding him out, let him be in what lurking place he would; whereas he might lie concealed, and escape so small a number as twelve thousand men:

and we will light upon him as the dew falleth upon the ground;
whose drops are innumerable, and cover all the ground where they fall; and the phrase not only expresses their numbers, but the irresistible force they should come with, and the manner, secretly, unawares, opportunely; the Romans had a sort of soldiers, called from the dew "rorarii", who carried light armour, and fought first in the battle, from whence they had their name, because dew falls before it rains ^F14:

and of him, and of all the men that [are] with him, there shall not be
left so much as one;
so that for the future Absalom would sit easy upon the throne, there being none left to molest him.

10 Und ist er auch ein tapferer Mann, dessen Herz wie ein Löwenherz ist, so wird er sicher verzagen; denn ganz Israel weiß, daß dein Vater ein Held ist, und die bei ihm sind tapfere Männer.

11 Sondern ich rate: Es werde ganz Israel insgesamt zu dir versammelt, von Dan bis Beerseba, wie der Sand, der am Meere ist, an Menge; und deine Person ziehe mit ins Treffen.

12 Und wir werden über ihn kommen an einem der Orte, wo er sich befindet, und uns auf ihn niederlassen, wie der Tau auf den Erdboden fällt; und es wird von ihm und von all den Männern, die bei ihm sind, auch nicht einer übrigbleiben.

13 Und wenn er sich in eine Stadt zurückzieht, so soll ganz Israel Seile an jene Stadt legen, und wir schleppen sie an den Fluß, bis dort auch nicht ein Steinchen mehr gefunden wird.

14 Und Absalom und alle Männer von Israel sprachen: Der Rat Husais, des Arkiters, ist besser als der Rat Ahitophels. Aber Jehova hatte es so angeordnet, um den guten Rat Ahitophels zunichte zu machen, damit Jehova das Unglück über Absalom brächte.
