Psalms 69:7

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach
Being reckoned a sinner, called a deceiver, said to be a Samaritan, and to have a devil; with many other reproaches, which he bore patiently for the sake of the word and worship of God, and for the sake of the glory of God, which he all along sought; and to repair the loss of it, which was sustained through the sin of man;

shame hath covered my face;
when he was spit upon by some, and smote by others with a rod upon his cheek; and when he was blindfolded, and bid to prophesy who smote him; see ( Isaiah 50:6 ) .

5 Du, o Gott, weißt um meine Torheit, und meine Vergehungen sind dir nicht verborgen.
6 Laß nicht durch mich beschämt werden, die auf dich harren, Herr, Jehova der Heerscharen! Laß nicht durch mich zu Schanden werden, die dich suchen, Gott Israels!
7 Denn deinetwegen trage ich Hohn, hat Schande bedeckt mein Antlitz.
8 Entfremdet bin ich meinen Brüdern, und ein Fremdling geworden den Söhnen meiner Mutter.
9 Denn der Eifer um dein Haus hat mich verzehrt, und die Schmähungen derer, die dich schmähen, sind auf mich gefallen.
