2 Cronache 26:18

18 ed essi si opposero al re Uzzia, e gli dissero: Non istà a te, o Uzzia, il far profumo al Signore; anzi a’ sacerdoti, figliuoli di Aaronne, che son consacrati per far profumi; esci fuori del Santuario; perciocchè tu hai misfatto, e ciò non ti tornerà in gloria da parte del Signore Iddio.

2 Chronicles 26:18

And they withstood Uzziah the king
They not only stood against him, but stood about him, surrounded him, so as to hinder him from approaching the altar of incense:

and said unto him, it appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn
incense unto the Lord;
it did not belong to his office as a king, it was no part of it

but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn
incense;
and to them only; for even the Levites might not do it, only those of the tribe of Levi, that descended from Aaron, see ( Numbers 16:35 ) ,

go out of the sanctuary, for thou hast trespassed;
by going into that:

neither shall it be for thine honour from the Lord God;
but to his hurt, and be a brand of infamy upon him; for more is designed than is expressed, and as the event showed.

16 Ma quando egli fu fortificato, il cuor suo s’innalzò, fino a corrompersi; e commise misfatto contro al Signore Iddio suo, ed entrò nel Tempio del Signore, per far profumo sopra l’altar de’ profumi.

17 Ma il sacerdote Azaria entrò dietro a lui, avendo seco ottanta sacerdoti del Signore, uomini valenti;

18 ed essi si opposero al re Uzzia, e gli dissero: Non istà a te, o Uzzia, il far profumo al Signore; anzi a’ sacerdoti, figliuoli di Aaronne, che son consacrati per far profumi; esci fuori del Santuario; perciocchè tu hai misfatto, e ciò non ti tornerà in gloria da parte del Signore Iddio.

19 Allora Uzzia si adirò, avendo in mano il profumo da incensare; ma mentre si adirava contro a’ sacerdoti, la lebbra gli nacque in su la fronte in presenza dei sacerdoti nella Casa del Signore, d’in su l’altar de’ profumi.

20 E il sommo sacerdote Azaria, e tutti i sacerdoti lo riguardarono, ed ecco, egli era lebbroso nella fronte; ed essi lo fecero prestamente uscir di là; ed egli ancora si gittò fuori per uscire; perciocchè il Signore l’avea percosso.
