2 Samuel 19:1

And it was told Joab
When returned to Mahanaim, or on his way to it; perhaps by the messengers he sent; and this report he had before he saw the king:

behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom;
for the death of him, instead of rejoicing at the victory obtained, and the deliverance from his enemies.

1 E fu rapportato a Ioab: Ecco, il re piange, e fa cordoglio di Absalom.
2 E la vittoria tornò in quel dì a tutto il popolo in duolo; perciocchè il popolo udì dire in quel dì: Il re è addolorato del suo figliuolo.
3 E il popolo in quel dì entrò furtivamente nella città, come furtivamente entrerebbe gente che si vergognasse per esser fuggita nella battaglia.
4 E il re si coprì la faccia, e gridava con gran voce: Figliuol mio Absalom, figliuol mio Absalom, figliuol mio!
5 Ma Ioab entrò dal re in casa, e disse: Tu hai oggi svergognato il volto a tutta la tua gente, che ha oggi salvata la vita a te, ed ai tuoi figliuoli, ed alle tue figliuole, ed alle tue mogli, ed alle tue concubine;
