Amos 1:10

But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus
An enemy to destroy the walls of it: this was done either by Shalmaneser king of the Assyrians, in the times of Eulaeus king of the Tyrians, of whose expedition against it Josephus ^F19 makes mention: or by Nebuchadnezzar, who took it after thirteen years' siege of it, in the time of Ithobalus {t}: or by Alexander, by whom it was taken, as Curtius ^F21 relates, after it had been besieged seven months: which shall devour the palaces thereof;
of the governor, the great men and merchants in it. Alexander ordered all to be slain but those that fled to the temples, and fire to be put to the houses; which made it a most desolate place, as the above historian has recorded.

8 e sterminerò di Asdod gli abitanti, e di Aschelon colui che tiene lo scettro; poi rivolterò la mia mano sopra Ecron, e il rimanente de’ Filistei perirà, ha detto il Signore Iddio.

9 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti di Tiro, nè per quattro, io non gli renderò la sua retribuzione; ma, perciocchè hanno messo il mio popolo in man di Edom, in cattività intiera; e non si son ricordati del patto fraterno.

10 E manderò un fuoco nelle mura di Tiro, il quale consumerà i suoi palazzi.

11 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti di Edom, nè per quattro, io non gli renderò la sua retribuzione; ma, perciocchè egli ha perseguitato con la spada il suo fratello, ed ha violate le sue compassioni; e la sua ira lacera perpetuamente, ed egli serba la sua indegnazione senza fine.

12 E manderò un fuoco in Teman, il quale consumerà i palazzi di Bosra.
