Acts 16:2

Which was well reported of
Not the father of Timothy, but Timothy himself; to whose piety, virtue, and good conversation witness was borne,

by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium;
the members of the churches which were in these places, and which were not far from one another; and as it is necessary that ministers of the Gospel should have a good report of them that are without, so likewise of them that are within; and the testimony of the latter is preferable to that of the former.

1 Or egli giunse in Derba, ed in Listra; ed ecco, quivi era un certo discepolo, chiamato per nome Timoteo, figliuol d’una donna Giudea fedele, ma di padre Greco;
2 del quale i fratelli, ch’erano in Listra, ed in Iconio, rendevan buona testimonianza.
3 Costui volle Paolo che andasse seco; e presolo, lo circoncise, per cagion de’ Giudei ch’erano in quei luoghi; perciocchè tutti sapevano che il padre d’esso era Greco.
4 E passando essi per le città, ordinavano loro d’osservar gli statuti determinati dagli apostoli, e dagli anziani, ch’erano in Gerusalemme.
5 Le chiese adunque erano confermate nella fede, e di giorno in giorno crescevano in numero.
