24 Io avea operato inverso loro secondo la lor contaminazione, e secondo i lor misfatti; ed avea nascosta la mia faccia da loro.

Ezekiel 39:24

According to their uncleanness
Not ceremonial, but moral; they were an impure and adulterous generation, as our Lord calls them, ( Matthew 12:39 ) ( 16:4 ) : and according to their transgressions have I done unto them;
or "rebellions", as the Targum renders it; or defections, as the word ^F11 signifies; their rebellions against the King Messiah; their defections from him; their contempt of him, and rejection of his yoke, and non-submission to his ordinances; according to the desert of such crimes, the Lord dealt with them;

``took vengeance on them,''

as the Targum is; in the destruction of their nation, city, and temple: "and hid my face from them"; or caused his Shechaniah to remove from them, as the same paraphrase; (See Gill on Ezekiel 39:23).

22 E da quel giorno innanzi, la casa d’Israele conoscerà che io sono il Signore Iddio loro.

23 E le genti conosceranno che la casa d’Israele era stata menata in cattività per la sua iniquità; perciocchè avea misfatto contro a me; laonde io avea nascosta la mia faccia da loro, e li avea dati in man de’ lor nemici; ed erano tutti caduti per la spada.

24 Io avea operato inverso loro secondo la lor contaminazione, e secondo i lor misfatti; ed avea nascosta la mia faccia da loro.

25 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ora ritrarrò Giacobbe di cattività, ed avrò pietà di tutta la casa d’Israele, e sarò geloso del mio santo Nome;

26 dopo che avranno portato il lor vituperio, e la pena di tutti i lor misfatti, che aveano commessi contro a me, mentre dimoravano sopra la lor terra in sicurtà, senza che alcuno li spaventasse;
