32 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, il male passerà da una gente all’altra, ed un gran turbo si leverà dal fondo della terra.

Jeremiah 25:32

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, behold, evil shall go forth
from nation to nation
Begin in one nation, and then go on to another; first in Judea, and then in Egypt; and so on, like a catching distemper, or like fire that first consumes one house, and then another; and thus shall the cup go round from nation to nation, before prophesied of: thus, beginning at Judea, one nation after another was destroyed by the king of Babylon; then he and his monarchy were destroyed by the Medes and Persians; and then they by the Macedonians; and then the Greeks by the Romans; and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth;
or "from the sides of [it]" ^F20; that is, "from the ends of [it]"; as the Targum, which paraphrases it,

``and many people shall come openly from the ends of the earth;''

this was first verified in the Chaldean army under Nebuchadnezzar, compared to a whirlwind, ( Jeremiah 4:13 ) ; and then in the Medes and Persians under Cyrus; and after that in the Greeks under Alexander; the great and last of all in the Romans under Titus Vespasian.

30 Tu adunque profetizza loro tutte queste parole, e di’ loro: Il Signore ruggirà da alto, e darà fuori la sua voce dall’abitacolo della sua santità; egli ruggirà fieramente contro alla sua stanza; un gran grido, come di quelli che calcano la vendemmia, risonerà a tutti gli abitatori della terra.

31 Lo stormo ne è andato infino alle estremità della terra; perciocchè il Signore ha lite contro alle genti, egli verrà a giudicio con ogni carne; egli darà gli empi alla spada, dice il Signore.

32 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, il male passerà da una gente all’altra, ed un gran turbo si leverà dal fondo della terra.

33 E in quel giorno gli uccisi del Signore saranno da una estremità della terra infino all’altra estremità; non se ne farà cordoglio, e non saranno raccolti, nè seppelliti; saranno per letame sopra la faccia della terra.

34 Urlate, pastori, e gridate; e voltolatevi nella polvere, voi i principali della greggia; perciocchè il vostro termine, per essere scannati, e il termine delle vostre dissipazioni, è compiuto; e voi caderete a guisa di un vaso prezioso.
