And the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah
For the further explanation and confirmation of what is before said; and which came at the same time as the other; this being not a new prophecy, but an illustration of the former: saying;
as follows:

17 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Giammai non verrà meno a Davide, uomo che segga sopra il trono della casa d’Israele;

18 ed a’ sacerdoti Leviti non verrà giammai meno nel mio cospetto, uomo che offerisca olocausto, e che faccia profumo d’offerta, e che faccia sacrificio tutti i giorni.

19 La parola del Signore fu ancora indirizzata a Geremia, dicendo:

20 Così ha detto il Signore: Se voi potete annullare il mio patto intorno al giorno, e il mio patto intorno alla notte, sì che il giorno e la notte non sieno più al tempo loro;

21 ei si potrà altresì annullare il mio patto con Davide, mio servitore, sì ch’egli non abbia più figliuolo che regni sopra il suo trono; e co’ sacerdoti Leviti miei ministri.
