1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, saranno tratte fuor de’ lor sepolcri l’ossa dei re di Giuda, e l’ossa de’ suoi principi, e l’ossa de’ sacerdoti, e l’ossa de’ profeti, e l’ossa degli abitanti di Gerusalemme.

Geremia 8:1 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 8:1

At that time, saith the Lord, they shall bring out the bones
of the kings of Judah
That is, either the Chaldeans or the Romans would do this; for this refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, either by the former or the latter; and it is certain that Jerusalem was ploughed up by the Romans, whereby the prophecy in ( Micah 3:12 ) was accomplished; when it is highly probable the graves were dug up, and the bones of the dead brought out, and scattered abroad by way of revenge; or it may be that graves were opened, especially the graves of kings and great men, for the sake of finding treasure in them: it follows, and the bones of his princes;
of the princes of Judah: and the bones of the priests;
that sacrificed to idols: and the bones of the prophets:
the false prophets; though this might be the case of the priests and prophets of the Lord; whose bones, in this general devastation, might be exposed as well as others; which of all might be thought to be the most sacred: and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem out of their graves; high and low, rich and poor, male and female; their graves, in common, were without the city.

1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, saranno tratte fuor de’ lor sepolcri l’ossa dei re di Giuda, e l’ossa de’ suoi principi, e l’ossa de’ sacerdoti, e l’ossa de’ profeti, e l’ossa degli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
2 E saranno sparse al sole, e alla luna, ed a tutto l’esercito del cielo; le quali cose essi hanno amate, ed hanno lor servito, e sono loro andati dietro, e l’hanno ricercate, e l’hanno adorate; quell’ossa non saranno raccolte, nè seppellite; saranno come letame in su la faccia della terra.
3 E la morte sarà più desiderabile che la vita, a tutto il rimanente di coloro che saranno avanzati di questa nazion malvagia; in tutti i luoghi ove ne saranno rimasti alcuni di resto, ne’ quali io li avrò scacciati, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
4 DI’ loro ancora: Così ha detto il Signore: Se alcun cade, non si rileva egli? se si disvia, non ritorna egli al diritto cammino?
5 Perchè si è questo popolo di Gerusalemme sviato d’uno sviamento pertinace? si sono attenuti all’inganno, han ricusato di convertirsi,
