Leviticus 18:1

And the Lord spake unto Moses
He continued speaking to him, after he had delivered to him the laws respecting the day of atonement, and the bringing of the sacrifices to the door of the tabernacle, and particularly concerning the Israelites not worshipping devils, as they had done in Egypt: the Lord proceeds to deliver out others, the more effectually to guard against both the immoral and idolatrous practice, of the Egyptians and Canaanites: saying,
as follows.

1 IL Signore parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo: Parla a’ figliuoli d’Israele, e di’ loro:
2 Io sono il Signore Iddio vostro.
3 Non fate secondo l’opere del paese di Egitto, nel quale siete dimorati; non fate altresì secondo l’opere del paese di Canaan, dove io vi conduco; e non procedete secondo i lor costumi.
4 Mettete in opera le mie leggi, e osservate i miei statuti, per camminare in essi.
5 Io sono il Signore Iddio vostro. Osservate, dico, i miei statuti, e le mie leggi; le quali chiunque metterĂ  in opera viverĂ  per esse. Io sono il Signore.
