11 Ed io contesi co’ magistrati, e dissi loro: Perchè si è egli abbandonata la Casa di Dio? Poi raunai i Leviti, e li rimisi ne’ loro ufficii.

Nehemiah 13:11

Then I contended with the rulers;
&c.] The ecclesiastical rulers, the priests that were appointed over those chambers, ( Nehemiah 12:44 ) , he expostulated with them warmly, and chode them severely for their conduct:

and said, why is the house of God forsaken?
no care being taken of the maintenance of the ministers of it, contrary to the promise made ( Nehemiah 10:37 ) ,

and l gathered them together;
the Levites and singers that were dispersed in the countries round about:

and set them in their place;
in the temple, and in the course of their ministry there.

9 E per mio comandamento, quelle camere furono purificate; poi io vi riportai dentro i vasellamenti della Casa di Dio, e le offerte, e l’incenso.

10 Io seppi ancora che le porzioni de’ Leviti non erano loro state date; laonde i Leviti e i cantori che facevano il servigio, se n’erano fuggiti, ciascuno alla sua possessione.

11 Ed io contesi co’ magistrati, e dissi loro: Perchè si è egli abbandonata la Casa di Dio? Poi raunai i Leviti, e li rimisi ne’ loro ufficii.

12 E tutto Giuda portò le decime del frumento, del vino, e dell’olio, nei magazzini.

13 Sopra i quali io costituii soprastante Selemia, sacerdote, e Sadoc, scriba; e d’infra i Leviti, Pedaia; e sotto loro, Hanan, figliuolo di Zaccur, figliuolo di Mattania; perciocchè erano reputati uomini leali; e la lor cura era di distribuir le porzioni a’ lor fratelli.
