11 Figliuol mio, sii savio, e rallegra il mio cuore; Ed io avrò che rispondere a colui che mi farà vituperio.

Proverbs 27:11

My son, be wise, and make my heart glad
That is, show thyself to be a wise man by thy words and actions; endeavour to get a good share of wisdom and knowledge, and make a good use of it, and that will rejoice my heart; as nothing more gladdens the heart of a parent than the wisdom and prudent behaviour of his son; see ( Proverbs 10:1 ) ( Proverbs 23:15 Proverbs 23:24 Proverbs 23:25 ) ;

that I may answer him that reproacheth me;
with begetting a foolish son, or a wicked man; or making him such by ill examples; or through neglect of education; or by using too much severity in it.

9 L’olio odorifero e il profumo rallegrano il cuore; Così fa la dolcezza dell’amico dell’uomo per consiglio cordiale.
10 Non lasciare il tuo amico, nè l’amico di tuo padre; E non entrare in casa del tuo fratello nel giorno della tua calamità; Meglio vale un vicino presso, che un fratello lontano.
11 Figliuol mio, sii savio, e rallegra il mio cuore; Ed io avrò che rispondere a colui che mi farà vituperio.
12 L’uomo avveduto, veggendo il male, si nasconde; Ma gli scempi passano oltre, e ne portano la pena.
13 Prendi pure il vestimento di chi ha fatta sicurtà per lo strano; E prendi pegno da lui per la straniera.
