15 E siati esso per ristorarti l’anima, e per sostentar la tua vecchiezza; conciossiachè la tua nuora, la qual ti ama, e ti val meglio che sette figliuoli, abbia partorito questo fanciullo.

16 E Naomi prese il fanciullo, e se lo recò al seno, e gli fu in luogo di balia.

17 E le vicine gli posero nome, quando fu detto: Un figliuolo è nato a Naomi; e lo chiamarono Obed. Esso fu padre d’Isai, padre di Davide.

18 Or queste sono le generazioni di Fares: Fares generò Hesron;

19 ed Hesron generò Ram; e Ram generò Amminadab;

20 e Amminadab generò Naasson; e Naasson generò Salmon;

21 e Salmon generò Booz; e Booz generò Obed;

22 e Obed generò Isai; ed Isai generò Davide.

INTRODUCTION TO RUTH 4

This chapter relates how an offer was made to the nearest kinsman of Ruth to redeem her, and the field her husband left, which he refused to do, Ru 4:1-8, upon which Boaz redeemed both, and married Ruth before the elders of the city as witnesses, and who congratulated him and her on that occasion, Ru 4:9-12, to whom a son was born, called Obed by the neighbours, Ru 4:13-17 and the chapter is concluded with the genealogy of David, who sprung from him, Ru 4:18-22.
