Psalm 37:1-9

1 Salmo di Davide NON crucciarti per cagion de’ maligni; Non portare invidia a quelli che operano perversamente;

2 Perciocchè saran di subito ricisi come fieno, E si appasseranno come erbetta verde.

3 Confidati nel Signore, e fa’ bene; Tu abiterai nella terra, e vi pasturerai in confidanza.

4 E prendi il tuo diletto nel Signore, Ed egli ti darà le domande del tuo cuore.

5 Rimetti la tua via nel Signore; E confidati in lui, ed egli farà ciò che bisogna;

6 E produrrà fuori la tua giustizia, come la luce; E la tua dirittura, come il mezzodì.

7 Attendi il Signore in silenzio; Non crucciarti per colui che prospera nella sua via, Per l’uomo che opera scelleratezza.

8 Rimanti dell’ira, e lascia il cruccio; Non isdegnarti, sì veramente, che tu venga a far male.

9 Perciocchè i maligni saranno sterminati; Ma coloro che sperano nel Signore possederanno la terra.

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 37

\\<<[A Psalm] of David>>\\. This psalm, it is very probable, was written at the same time, and upon the same occasion, with the former; and describes the different states of good and bad men; and is full of exhortations, instructions, and advice to the people of God; intermixed with various encouraging promises. A late learned writer {h} thinks it was written for Mephibosheth's consolation under Ziba's calumny. {h} Delaney's Life of King David, vol. 2. p. 219.
